Rozhovor s Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara): Mými rock´n´rollovými bohy jsou Led Zeppelin
Hlavná hrdinka a speváčka skupiny Dead Sara, ktorá si rýchlo získava pozornosť sveta, si našla pár minút a trochu nám priblížila život kapely v štúdiu, mimo neho a aj ako si z nich Muse urobili srandu. Nech sa páči.

Na Slovensku a v Čechách máte veľa fanúšikov, počula si už niekedy o týchto miestach? Plánujete tu niekedy hrať?
Áno, rozhodne som o nich už počula a strašne rada by som cestovala a hrala na rozličných miestach. Rozprávali sme sa s našimi booking agentmi a oni súhlasili, že musíme viacej cestovať, takže uvidíme…
Viem, že pracujete na novej nahrávke. Zmenil sa váš prístup k písaniu songov? Môžeš nám prezradiť, čo môžeme od albumu očakávať?
Myslím, že ako skladateľ sa stále snažíš byť lepší, dať poslucháčom to, čo chceš, ale svojou vlastnou cestou. Takže áno, ako skupina sme sa za pár posledných rokov toho naučili dosť a tie skúsenosti sme vložili do novej nahrávky. A všetko, čo o nej môžem povedať, - aby som to trochu priblížila - je, že veľa pesničiek je groovovejších. Sú troška viac bluesovejšie. A to sa nám páči.
Boli ste na turné s The Used a taktiež s Muse, aké to je byť oslovený veľkou kapelou, aby ste s nimi hrali? Môžeš porovnáť skúsenosti z týchto tour? A ak môžeš, povieš nám nejaké zábavne historky?
Prinajmenšom môžem povedať, že sme hlboko poctení. Je to príjemne poznanie tak mladej kapely ako sme my, že možno robíme niečo správne…
Muse a ich crew si z nás urobili srandu poslednú noc na turné, keď sme vystupovali tým, že po nás hádzali “prdiace bomby”. V jednu chvíľu sme sa na seba všetci pozreli s výrazom “Čo to tu kurva smrdí??” Keď sme ich videli, ako sa smejú na boku pódia, tak sme si to hneď domysleli. Samozrejme som ich po dohraní songu hneď zavolala na pódium. Bola to sranda!
Keď hovoríme o ďalších kapelách, kto bol tvojou najväčšou inšpiráciou, keď si začala s hudbou? Zmenilo sa to za tie roky?
Led Zeppelin stále budú môjmi bohmi rock’n rollu. Mimo nich, mení sa to často. Ako kapela máme veľmi radi Rage Against the Machine. Oni boli našim vzorom, keď sme vyrastali.
Keď píšete song na album, prídete do štúdia napísať pesničku, alebo je väčšina pesničiek stvorená z jammovania?
Jo, na albume to bolo dosť o jammovaní. Mimo to, pár textov bolo napísaných až potom. Počas jammovania mám v hlave zopár melódii a nejaké vymyslené slová. Ha.
Snažíš sa písať hudbu k textom, alebo texty k hudbe? Očom najradšej píšeš?
Oboje, povedala by som. Veľmi to záleží na nálade pesničky a tým pádom to vyvolá určité myšlienky a z toho vznikne text. Nikdy skutočne nevieš, ako to bude, preto to nazývam terapiou. Mám to veľmi rada.
Akým spôsobom sláva ovplyvnila tvoj život a vztahy v kapele?
Povedala by som, že nás to zblížilo. Jeden na druhého sa pozeráme ako na ochranu. Myslím, sme v tom spoločne takže nám nič iné ani neostáva. Núti nás to pracovať ešte tvrdšie.
Týmto ti chcem poďakovať za všetky odpovede, a ak máš ešte čo povedať, veľmi rád si to vypočujem. Možno nejakú správu pre fanúšikov tu?

The main character and singer of group, which is gaining the attention of the world fast, Emily Armstrong, found a couple of minutes and told us a bit about band in the studio, outside the studio and about how Muse pranked them. Here you go:
You have many fans in Slovakia and Czech republic, have you ever heard about these places? Do you plan to ever come and play for us?
Yes, I definitely heard of these places and really do want to travel about and play different countries. We've been in contact with our booking agents here and stressing the fact that we need to make our way about and they agree, so we'll see...
I know you are working on a new record, has your attitude towards songwriting changed in any way? Can you give us a sneek peek of what the album might be like?
I think as a songwriter you are always striving to be better, getting what you want to say across to a listener but in your own unique way. So yes, we as a group learned a lot these past few years and have put the experience into the new record. And all I can say really about the new record - to give you a little insider - is that many of them have more of a groove to them. A bit more bluesy. Which we love.
You have toured with The Used and also Muse, what did it feel like to have such big bands ask you to play with them? Can you compare the experiences? And if you can, tell any funny stories?
We are extremely humbled to say the least. It's a nice acknowledgment to a newer band such as us that we just may be doing something right...
We were pranked by Muse and their crew the last night of the tour while we were performing by throwing "fart bombs" on stage. At one point we were looking at each other going "what the fuck is that smell??" Then we figured it out quiet immediately as they were laughing side stage. I of course called them out after we finished the song. It was good fun!
Talking about other bands, who was your biggest inspiration when you began playing music? Has it changed over the years?
Led Zeppelin will always be my rock'n roll gods. Aside from them, it changes a lot really. As a band we also all really love Rage Against the Machine. They were a band we all looked up to growing up.
When writing songs for a record, do you deliberately sit down to write or are most songs created by simply jamming with the band?
Yeah, again on the record it was a lot about jamming. Meanwhile, a bunch of the lyrics are written after the fact. I will have a bunch of melody and made up words during the jamming process. Ha.
Do you try to fit the music to lyrics or the lyrics to music? What are your favourite topics to write about?
Both I'd say. It really depends on the mood of the song we are jamming and therefore it will provoke certain thoughts and in turn come out with lyrics. You really never know sometimes which is why I call it therapy really. I really enjoy it.
In what way has fame influenced your life and the relationships within the band?
Brings us closer really I'd say. We really look to each other for guidance. I mean, we are all in this together so we might as well I suppose. It makes us work even harder.
